THE interim Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Audi Dalhatu, said that the Saturday local council election in his area was a huge success.
Dalhatu, who led newsmen on tour of the 10 wards that make up the council said, “from what I have seen in more than seven wards I visited and reports from the remaining three wards, the exercise was a huge success in my council”.
“Despite the fact that there was a misunderstanding in Kajuru ward where some students of Government Technical College, Kajuru, were prevented from voting despite the fact that they registered at the ward, combined efforts of the security personnel and stakeholders were able to foil what would have been a breakdown of law and order,” he said.
The interim Chairman attributed the success of the exercise to well publicized and sensitization of the voters by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM), security personnel whom according to him were up and doing as well as the media men whom, he said, reported the election accurately.
“The local government council election as witnessed in my council and the entire report in the state indicated a hitch-free one. The states that are yet to conduct council elections may as well copy from Kaduna State,” he said.
