Thirty-nine suspects involved in various crimes have been arrested by the Cross River Police Command.
Out of this figure, he said, additional  twenty-two cases were charged to court while efforts are been made to get other suspects arrested.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa while briefing newsmen on the successes recorded during the period under review.
Inuwa said that two stolen vehicles were also recovered by officers and men of his command during investigation.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Calabar on Friday, he said “I want to assure you that the war against crime and criminality in the state is a continuous exercise and require the collaborative efforts of all and sundry”.
The Command, he said, “in partnership with other sister security agencies, the media and other relevant stakeholders will never rest on our oars until the war is fully won”.
Therefore, he said “I implore on the general public to continuously avail us with timely and useful information through our help lines already disseminated to enable us serve them better”.
Inuwa said two suspects were arrested for defiling a 9  and thirteen year old girls at the premises of the University of Calabar on April 17th, 2017.
He appealed Cross Riverians to continue to maintain peace, be vigilant and to report all suspicious characters/movements within their neighbourhood to security agents for prompt action.
He assured that the command shall continue to double its effort in ensuring safety of lives and property.
On the viewing centre tragedy, Inuwa maintained that “only seven people lost their lives while 15 others were in critical conditions but have been discharged.
He gave the total number of people involved to twenty-two as at the time of filing this report.
In answer to the kidnapped Commissioner for Water Resources, he said “we are working very hard to get a clue with him or the kidnappers”.
“As I speak to you the headquarters are aware of this matter and very soon you will hear from us, Inuwa said”.
