Cross River Police Command arrests personnel over cultism

A police personnel serving with the Cross River State Police Command was paraded over an alleged involvement in cult rival clash that led to the death of two of his colleagues.
Constable Kingsley Iyieke, a 35-year-old man was allegedly involved in the cult clash last month.
Briefing newsmen in his office, the Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh said Iyieke was fingered by some of the cultists who were arrested for the killing of the policemen.
Iyieke was reportedly fingered as a member of one of the rival cult groups operating in the state.
He regretted that one of their own was involved in such an ugly incident.
Ozi-Obeh said Iyieke, who was attached to the Marine unit and had since been dismissed from the Force and would be charged to court.
In an interview, Iyieke told newsmen that he was not a member of any cult group and knew nothing of what he was being accused of.
In a related development the Commissioner reunited a 16-year-old Secondary school boy; Kingsley Akom, who was abducted by suspected traffickers in Oyo State but was rescued in Calabar by a surveillance team of the State Housing Police Division, with his parents.
He said the police were also on the trail of the kidnappers who abducted a female staff of the Ministry of Health on Friday in Calabar.
