The Federal High Court in Katsina has ordered the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to detain in their custody the former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema until the Friday 27, of this month.
The date was set aside by the court to rule whether it would entertain the bail application forwarded by counsel to the defendant Mr. Emmanuel Ukala SAN.
The presiding Judge, Justice Babagana Ashigar gave the order in a ruling delivered on a motion seeking for bail of the former Governor during the resumed sitting of the court, which the prosecution counsel objected to the application.
The motion seeking for the bail of the former Governor Ibrahim Shema was followed after the accused has taken the plea of the charges leveled against him.
Earlier the presiding Judge of the Federal High Court Katsina, Baba Gana Ashigar while ruling on the matter, argued that the former Governor can be docked to take plea on the charges leveled against him.
In a comment the leading prosecution counsel senior advocate S.T Ologu Oleisha gave details of the court proceeding.
The former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema is facing fresh trail before the Federal High Court over alleged 26 charges bothering money laundering to the tune of 5.7 billion naira meant for Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme Sure-P in the state.
