The chairman of Karu Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, Honourable Samuel Akala, has appealed to the federal government to provide electricity to some communities in his Area.
Akala, who made the appeal, Wednesday, during a courtesy visit to the office of Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Abuja, said Kugbaru, Gurku, are among other communities that are in dire need of electricity.
He also charged the agency to expedite action for the speedy completion of the ongoing electrification project in Panda.
Speaking, Engineer Mohammed A. Wasaram (Ex. Director, Technical Services), said part of the agency’s mandate is to see to the electrification of all rural communities in Nigeria.
Wasaram who spoke on behalf of the Managing Director expressed readiness of the agency to partner with the government of the council to connect some of its major communities to the National Grid.
He disclosed that five (5) projects has been allocated to Karu by the leadership of the national assembly in its 2019 projects execution plans.
The Agency also said it would restore power to the council’s secretariat which has been running on generator for the past months to lessen the financial burden on the council.
