Controller General Of Customs, Ali Presents 30 Man Accommodation As New Year Gift To Ogun Customs

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (CGC), Colonel Ahmed Ali (rtd) has declared open and handed over keys of thirty (30) self contain apartments to officers and men of Ogun Area Customs Command as special New Year gift.

Declaring the 30-man block open at the weekend, Ali said it was a special gift for the work well done over the years and a way of encouraging officers and men of the command to put more efforts to checkmate smuggling and generate more revenues to  the cover of the Federal Government.

The Controller of the command, Comptroller Sanni  Mamudu who declared the 30-man block open on behalf of Colonel Ali thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and his management saying, there is no other thing the authority could present to officers and men of Ogun Command as New year gift other than this befitting accommodation.

“It is a great pleasure to commission the recently completed remodeled 30 Man Rank & File accommodation. This will indeed ginger the officers and Men of the Command to redouble their efforts towards achieving the service core mandate and responsibilities.

“Yes it is world standard,it is unique, it is comfortable and befitting.Therefore,we appreciate the management and we pledge more commitment and dedication to work”Madugu stressed.

Also briefing news men after the commission of the block on the activities of the command, Madugu said within  four days the command made various seizures with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of 62,693,000.00 Naira.

Giving the breakdown,Comptroller madugu said 14 Tokunbo cars with DPV of 43,402,500.00 naira ,391bags of 50kg foreign rice with DPV  of 4,301,00.00 and a means of conveyance with DPV of 6,817,500.00 were seized during the period.

He promised to collaborate with Ogun State Government to ensure success in the recently launched large scale farming of ofada rice by the Governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun

“We have received letter from Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and have circulate the sample picture of the branded rice called ‘Metro Rice’ to our officers so as to ensure the facilitation and support the people’s driven policy of the Government towards the promotion of local production of rice.

He said however, that as enshrined by the relevant sections of CEMA CAP 45 LFN, which gives NCS officers power to search and examine in an event of suspicion of foul play or credible intelligence such mandate will be fully enforced.
