Condolences Trickle In From Olubadan, Buhari, Lanlehin, NUJ, Others Over Death Of Oyo Speaker

It was weeping galore in Ibadan on Friday as the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo died in the early hours of the day.

Sources said the late Speaker died at the Jericho General hospital in Ibadan where he was rushed to by his aides and relatives.

New Nigerian gathered that Late Honourable Adeyemo may have died of heart attack and that his body has been deposited at the University of Ibadan Anatomy for autopsy as at the time of sending this report.

In his condolence message on the sudden death of the Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, the Olubadan  of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji described it as a “sad event” saying, at a recent meetings when he met the late speaker, “the young man who was hale and hearty would go out of his way to come and pay him homage,”

Expressing shock and disbelief over the death of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Oba Adetunji  said, “unfortunately, death is not a letter that is bodly written on human face and nobody knows who is next”.

“The passage of the Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, unpleasant as the news may sound, is a cause for sober reflection for us all. He therefore mourned the loss of the political giant and condoled with his family, the members of the State House of Assembly and the Oyo State Government. He prayed to God to give all his family, friends, political associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss” he said

The Olubadan in the message signed by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Alhaji Adeola Oloko maintained  that as a monarch and father, his wish and prayer to God is that the youngsters in our midst should outlive the old and the aged but regretted that God who is sovereign does whatsoever He pleases as God is the ultimate decider of human life.

In his condolence message, a governorship aspirant and immediate past Senator for Oyo South District, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, described the death of the Speaker, Hon  Michael Adeyemo as shocking and devastation to the entire House of Assembly, his family and the people of the state.

Senator Lannlehin, in the condolence message from his media office, declared that the late Speaker who was a great lawyer, would be sorely missed for his outstanding leadership skills and his espousal of politics without bitterness and violence.

The gubernatorial aspirant stressed that the late Speaker was a great stabilizer in the eighth Assembly and team player in the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures where he was an active and played enviable role, Lanlehin tasked his colleagues to sustain Adeyemo’s legacy of peace.

“My heart goes out to his immediate family, the people of Ibarapa East State Constituency, his colleagues and associates in this trying time. The speaker was a fine gentleman, a humble brilliant lawyer whose positive impact was felt wherever he went. Coming seven years after he lost his wife during child birth, I can only pray that God should grant him eternal rest and keep the children safe and flourishing and the family, the fortitude to bear the painful loss,” he said.

Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber crime,  Senator  Buhari Abdulfatai while commiserating with Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo State House of Assembly and the entire people of Oyo state, described the death of  Hon Adeyemo’s death as a rude shock and devastating.

Senator Buhari in a press statement by his Media office said though “death is inevitable for all mortal but Adeyemo’ death is too sudden and too heavy to bear.” saying, “he was a good  and humble man, a man of peace and this is evidenced in his leadership  style  and relationship with other arms of the government’s (Executive and Judiciary).

While praying for the reposed of his soul the Lawmaker also appeal to God to grant his children, relatives, political and extended family the fortitude to bear the irreparable  loss.

Oyo state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in its condolence message  expressed shock over the sudden death of the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Michael Adeyemo. saying “the Union is particularly disturbed with the death of the speaker at his prime.”

Oyo NUJ in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Adewumi Faniran and Bola Ogunlayi noted that “more worrisome is the fact that the death came on the heels of clamour for power shift to the youths from the older generation”.

The Union while commiserating with Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, all members of the State House of Assembly, the immediate family and parents of the late Speaker also commiserates with the entire people of Ibarapa area of the state and Oyo State in general prays God to grant the wife, children and parents of Rt. Honourable Adeyemo the fortitude to bear the irreparable
