Clinton, Mzei Win   Ex-pro Squash Tournament

The duo of Ighodala Clinton and Wisdom Mzei, have emerged champions of U-13 and U-16Boys 2nd Edition of National Ex-Pro Squash Tournament.
The tournament decided at the weekend at the Squash courts of the Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere, Lagos produced the skills in all  the participants particularlly in the finals of both the male and female categories respectively.
Clinton defeated his opponent  Damilare Alabi, in three straight sets of 11/9 11/4 & 11/5 to win the giant Trophy and some sporting materials.
While Wisdom Mzei beat his younger brother, Daniel Mzei in the U-13 Boys by 3-2 of 4/11,11/8,11/4,6/11 &11/5 to win in his category.
For the female finals of the U-13 and U-15, daughter of former number two squash player, Mistura Durosinlorun won the U-13 after three straight sets of 11/5, 11/4 & 11/7 over Chidinma Orji to win for herself a giant trophy and some sporting materials. Earlier In the day Aminat Musa has won the U-15 Girls category having defeated her opponent’s Rukayat  Oladunmoye,11/4, 11/7 & 11/4 to win the 2nd edition of the tournament.
 Speaking to New Nigerian Sports shorty after the closing ceremony, was the former number two player who also doubles as the Chairman of the Ex-Pro and sponsor of the tournament, Yusuf Durosinlorun, commending all the participating teams for exhibiting the spirit of sportsmanship before, during and after each of their matches.
According to him, our target is to catch them young and groom them to become world beaters in the nearest future.
On how squash has been faring in the recent times, he was of the opinion that their quick intervention through the Ex-Pro tournament has brought back the lost glory in the world of squash.
‘As we are looking forward to having World Cup players in the next eight years”.
After which he enjoined corporate bodies, well to do Nigerians and government to always rally round sports at grassroots particularly the game of squash.
