President, Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Pastor Gabriel Lagunju on Tuesday asked Christians in the country to stop criticizing or condemning Nigeria leaders but rather engage in sincere prayers for God’s mercy and favor for the country.
Pastor Lagunju gave the advice while speaking at the the opening of the 2016 Annual Pastors’ conference of the church held at CAC Ile Aanu, Alasepe Prayer Ground, Ikire,
According to him,Nigeria as a country presently need fervent prayers from all and sundry saying, “Christians should discontinue to criticize or condemn the leaders rather they should engage themselves in sincere prayers for the King of Kings to look down on our land with mercy and favor in all areas”.
“As I mentioned in the early part of this address, our role as Christians is not to criticize or condemn our leaders for the current happenings in our dear country, but rather to engage ourselves in sincere prayers for the King of Kings to look down on our land with mercy and favour in all areas,”he said.
The President, Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide stressed that “the political and socio-economic storm of our nation would have blown off our entire existence, if not for His solid assurance of being with his children even when going through any consuming fire”.
Pastor Lagunju added that “whatever the current political situation in our country might be, our greatest role as Christians is to pray for our leaders as we all know that leadership is nothing to be toyed with”.
Speaking further, the Cleric cautioned  the National Assembly to stop pursuing personal agenda, but instead prioritize the enhancement of the nations economy with laws and policies aimed at taking the country out of the present economic mess, saying, the current economic crises and hardship all over the country has not spare anyone including the clerics and the church, .
“The effects of our political and socio-economic conditions are really telling on all of us and only God can save us, as a mission, however, and in addition to our prayers. Our parliamentarians should ensure that the enhancement of the nation’s economy is always on their priority list and above any personal agenda. This is the only parameter by which they would be assessed when they eventually return home after their respective tenures”.
Pastor Lagunju however urged the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration to look into and stop the uncesessary killings and maiming of innocent Nigerians across the country.
Commenting on the prolonged factional crisis rocking the Church, Pastor Lagunju said the church has leave it to God to settle, saying,”we have leave it on to God, by the Grace of God, we are ready to continue to pray to God for the crisis to end, God who owns the Church knows how to handle it”
On the theme of the conference, Pastor Lagunju said “It is time for thee to work, o lord, for they have made your laws void. This is the time for us Christians to call on God to remind people to come to God, our God is a God of peace, we need his peace”.
“The above theme which is most suitable for the present situation of the Church is a prayer request from a troubled mind who was very much concerned about his immediate environment”.
