CIvil Defence wins Maiden MIGA 2016, edges NPF

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have put up a brilliant performance to emerge the champions of the maiden edition of the Ministry of Interior Games (MIGA) which ended on Saturday night in Kaduna.
They edged out close competitors, Nigeria Police Force (NPF) after garnering 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals.
NPF settled for the second position on the medals table with 11 gold, 20 silver and 18 bronze medals, while Nigerian Prisons Service trailed behind to finish third with four gold, seven silver and 17 bronze medals.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) placed fourth with one gold medal, eight silver and 20 silver.
On the fifth spot was the Nigerian Fire Service who won only one silver, while the Ministry of Interior were sixth with three bronze medals.
Speaking to newsmen after the presentation of trophies and medals, DCG NSCDC, Idris Haruna said that the feat they achieved at MIGA 2016 was just their starting point.
He explained that they worked hard to emerge top and would not relent their efforts, but work even harder to break new bounds.
Haruna explained that the NSCDC right from recruitment, gets its act right by recruiting qualitative officers and men in all fields, a result of which is being experienced in sports
 
Also speaking, the Commandant Sports, NSCDC, Ayodele Titus said that as far as sports is concerned, the NSCDC is well grounded.
He disclosed that as a result of their skills, no fewer than nine of their officers made Team Nigeria to the recently concluded Olympics Games.
