Christmas: Lead By Example, Emulate Christ’s Virtues – Onimeko

The Onimeko  of Imeko, Oba Benjamen Oyeditan Olanite (Akanku IV) over the weekend asked Nigerians especially the religious leaders in Nigeria to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by  always leading by example.

Oba Olanite while making the call in his Christmas message to Nigerians made available to newsmen on the celebrations of this year’s festivities .

The royal father declared that it is only when religious leaders in and across Nigeria learn how to lead by example “and act more like Jesus Christ and not just preach like Him,” that their  followers to take them seriously, .

Emphasizing the need for Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ by showing peace to one another” he noted that  ” Chrismas is about the celebration of the birth, life and love Jesus shared while as human, even now, as divine.”

According to the Onimeko, “there is no greater gift and honour that one can give to Jesus Christ other than the exhibition of a forgiving spirit, display of love and promotion of absolute peace, because these are what the Lord Jesus Christ symbolises.”

“We all must see ourselves as equal before the almighty God who purposely created us with different cultural backgrounds, believes and religious affiliations. This will enable us achieve the much needed global harmony.”he said.

Oba Olanite then urged the people of Imeko, Ogun State and Nigeria at large “to rededicate themselves to the virtues of peace, love, justice, equity, piety, humility and service to others,” which he said  were the cores of the teachings and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Oba Olanite also advised public office holders in the country to henceforth “see the office as a public trust that must be held to the highest ethical standards.”
