The discovery that parents are beginning to accept sports as a career path for their children is thrilling the founder/Head Coach of the Coach Felix Academics and Sports Foundation (CFASF), Felix Osiebe.

He expressed this when fielding questions from AUTHENTIC News Daily on Friday, during the maiden edition of the CFASF Athletics Talent Hunt for boys and girls, held at the NNPC Staff School, NNPC Quarters, Sabon  Tasha, Kaduna.
“I am impressed that parents are getting to know sports is another alternative to life survival just like education. There is an eight year old girl whose mom led her here, there are several even younger kids here, this is encouraging,” he said.
Coach Osiebe said that the talent hunt focused on discovering talented kids through 100 and 400 metres trials.
“This is because those who excel in 100 metres can also do well in other sprints like 200 metres, while those that display talent in 400 metres can also be groomed for 800 metres and other long distance races,” he said.
He said that at the end of the event, medals will be presented to those who distinguished themselves, for the first three positions.
The CFASF founder said the timing of the first edition was done to ensure they catch the talented athletes resident in Kaduna who school outside the state before they resumed for the second term
The coach explained that a similar talent hunt would be held in March for secondary and primary schools, before the end of the second term.
“We would hold another edition by June, targeting the orphanage homes,” he added.
Speaking further, he said the foundation has concluded arrangements with grade A secondary schools in Kaduna to give some percentage of discount on fees of students admitted from the foundation.
“For those that have graduated from secondary schools, we have MoU with several top universities in the country and they are admitting our students,” he added.
Also speaking, the Technical Director of the foundation, Sam Leke said that he was impressed with the level of talents displayed.
He appealed to sponsors to partner with them in helping to discover and groom the abundant talents wasting away.
It was gathered that MicroManna, CEO Cavendish Schools, Mr. Mohammed Aliyu and Professor Iguisi Osawe supported the talent hunt.
