Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State has advised community leaders to always instill sanity and orderliness among the youth by cautioning their people against disrespect for law and order and taking laws into their own hands.
Governor Almakura gave the advise during a visit to Obi Local Government with the members of the State Security Council to commiserate with the people of the areas on the recent reprisal attacks on the areas.
The Governor advised the leaders of communities to sit with the youth admonishing them for sanity and compliance to law and order, as well as ensuring they were not adding to the problems.
He directed for aerial surveillance to patrol the areas deserted Which he said would involve the helicopter going end to end of the local government to monitor the movement and migration of people as well as identify flash points where security bases could be deployed , especially at the areas that have become centers of migration to enhance safety of displaced persons.
Almakura stated that as a responsible Government the protection of life and property was paramount, disclosing that the Government would explore all avenues to ensure the safety of the everyone.
The Governor assured all those that had taken sanctuary at IDP camps a total protection against any form of encroachment, also assuring them of the deployment of more security forces in the areas.
He directed Chairmen of the affected Local Government Areas to take stock of the people with a view of accessing the communities they came from and towards quick providing relief materials that were necessary to the IDPs.
