The Catholic Arch-diocese of Owerri, Ecclesiastical Province, has resolved that, the son-in-law of Governor Rochas Okorocha Chief Uche Nwosu, succeeding him as governor in 2019, is not acceptable and will be resisted.

The Arch-Bishop of the church, Most Rev. Anthony J.V. Obinna, said this in the church during a Funeral service, pointing out that “Uche Nwosu, succeeding Governor Okorocha was unacceptable”.

According to the Arch-Bishop, what Imo people need now is a democratically elected governor and not a handpicked successor.

He said, allowing Uche Nwosu, the current chief of staff and son-in-law to the governor to succeed his father in-law is akin to granting the governor a third term.

The church, the Arch-Bishop therefore, urged the Catholic faithful to register to vote during the election and arm themselves with their voters card for the 2019 election.

The Arch-Bishop also called for a mature person who would serve the people and not dominate them to be enthroned as the next governor of the state.
