*says policy aimed at increasing financial inclusion

After taking the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Cashless Policy Sensitization campaign to four states, the apex bank has described people Kaduna State as the best audience in terms of interaction and
indicating interest to learn ahead of the April deadline from when charges would begin to apply for transactions in cash above N500,000.
Representatives of the bank expressed this at the sensitization rally held at the Kakuri District Head’s premises on Monday evening.
Alhaji Usman Usman who was the first to speak said that Makera was chosen because it had remained a model community that had never engaged in ethno-religious crisis even when other communities within Kaduna metropolis were fighting.
He said that they were on ground to let the people know that they can use their phones in doing transactions like transfer of funds or paying for purchases.
He commended the District Head for his efforts in ensuring that development comes to his domain, stressing that his commitment at ensuring capacity building of his subjects was another reason that
informed the choice of his community for the sensitization campaign.
His colleague, Charles Tobechi Bob-Duru said that by introducing the cashless policy, CBN is poised at increasing financial inclusion.
“We are from the Short Services Office of the CBN and we are here encouraging people to do more cashless transactions because of its inherent advantages,” he explained.
He explained that some of the advantages the cashless policy would bring include reducing the risks of armed armed robbery attacks as well as the amount of cash in circulation.
“It helps the CBN as an institution in its monetary policy, it also encourages financial inclusion by everyone in Nigeria having an account for transactions,” he added.
Bob-Duru emphasized that the CBN would also be saving huge costs incurred in producing, transporting and maintaining cash in circulation.
“I will like to commend Bizi Mobile for doing a good job here. We
have come here and we are happy that people are buying into this policy. Bizi Mobile is saving people cost and time by taking agency banking services to their door steps. The time and resources spent on going to the banks can be utilized elsewhere,” he added.
In his remarks at the gathering, the District Head of Kakuri, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf urged his subjects to take advantage of the
sensitization rally to uplift their standards of living.
He appealed for another forum, where especially the women who were more in number at the venue, would be further educated on cashless policy, its advantages and how they can derive economic benefits from it.
In a move which turned out to be an endorsement of the scheme, he opened a mobile money account with Bizi Mobile Cashless Agency and was instantly presented an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card by the MD/CEO Bizi Mobile Cashless Agency, Alhaji Aminu Bizi.
