CAF League: We Will Survive MC Alger Scare – MFM

After recording a slim 2-1 victory against visiting MC Alger FC of Algeria in their first leg second round CAF Champions League match. skipper and keeper of MFM has assured Nigerians they will scale the hurdle in the reverse fixture in Algiers and qualify for the money spinning stage of the competition.
MFM on Wednesday at the Agege Stadium, Lagos  recorded a not too impressive performance to beat their North African opponents.
The match which was watched by an appreciable crowd saw the Nigerian side dominating the first half and were rewarded with a penalty in the 40th minutes which was converted by Akuneto Chijioke to end the game 1-0 at half time.
In the second stanza, the visitors took over control if the game and their efforts was rewarded with a goal scored in the early minutes of the half  by Azegbe Amachi for the equaliser.After, this goal, the Algerians continued to mount pressure on the home side but it was a long range shot from MFM Monsuru Bashiru in the dying minutes of the game  which beat the Algerian keeper, Chaal Adulazeez that separated the two sides.
Speaking on the match, skipper of MFM, Chukwuma Okpara declared the readiness of the club to surprise their opponents in Algiers.
“I’ m happy we were able to defeat our opponents which has given us an advantage ahead of the second leg._Althiugh , I would have loved we won the game with many goal margins but when you are playing a good side like the Algerians, you will be happy with a win.
collaborating him, keeper of MFM, Egbe Ospino while expressing happiness at the victory was optimistic that the team will surmount the Algerian hurdle.
“We are all happy with the victory because they will be the ones playing under pressure before their home fans.
“You remember before we travelled to Mali in the first leg, first round qualifying game, I promised our fans we are going to get at least a draw in Bamako, and we achieved that.
It’s true that the Algerians were by far  better than the Malians but in football nothing is impossible and I hope,we will survive”,concluded the former Nembe FC keeper who has just received a call up to the national U-20 team
