Presidential candidate and former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has called President Muhammadu Buhari’s corruption war as witch-hunting of opposition and not meant to better the country.
He made this assertion when he paid a visit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat in Kaduna to solicit support for his ambition.
Alhaji Bafarawa opined that since Buhari met these institutions on ground, it was expected of him to spread the fight across board, and use them to prosecute everyone regardless of party affiliation, religious and tribal boundaries, according to him, the ICPC and the EFCC are creations of PDP.
The former governor who said he was the most qualified of the aspirants under the platform of the PDP vying for the position, added that if President Buhari isn’t very careful, what befell former President Jonathan in 2015 will befall him in 2019.
“Those he has around him are sycophants who are out to get what they can get and as such don’t tell him the realities on ground.”
The Presidential aspirant while urging delegates and local government chairpersons in Kaduna state to support him at the primaries said he believes and knows he’s the most qualified going by his track records when he was governor.
“I brought development to Sokoto State, it’s on record that the state didn’t borrow a single penny from any source and for the eight years I was governor I never collected salaries,” he explained.
In his welcome address, state chairman of the PDP, Hon. Hassan Hyet extolled the virtues of the aspirant, and assured him of the support of the state chapter.
“We are aware of the hope and development you brought to Sokoto state and the humility in you as testified by people who worked with you and are still working with you,” he added.
Alhaji Bafarawa is one of the presidential aspirants seeking the PDP’s ticket for next year’s presidential election.
