Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has reechoed the need for Nigerians to commend President Buhari for getting Nigeria out of economic recession under two years while Western countries like Greece are grappling with the problem for nearly a decade.
The governor made the plea during a courtesy call on him by the new Commander of the Operation Safe Haven which has its headquarters in Jos, Major General Anthony Atolagbe.
Abubakar observed that there is no country in contemporary history that has made massive economic intervention since the Marshall plan than Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari, and therefore wondered why some Nigerians chose to criticize the President at a time when the policies have started yielding dividends.
A press statement by Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique, recalled that the governor had last week made similar statement, expressing concern over “unguided comments” some prominent Nigerians make in criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s economic policies.
“President Muhammadu Buhari came into office at the most trying moment of the nation’s history. His rescue mission was able to get the nation out of recession in less than two years, and somebody is saying the economic policy of the president is a failure, that person is the exemplary failure,” the governor lamented.
Governor Abubakar noted that the foreign reserves of the country has been raised to over 40 billion USD, with increase of nearly 35% over what the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari inherited when it came into office in 2015.
Abubakar urged Nigerians to continue supporting the President in his selfless drive to return the nation to the path of greatness, and disregard the statements of those he described as, “self-acclaimed social critics.”
