Kogi State governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has upheld the election of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as dully elected governor of the state.
Ruling on the petition filed by a, Member of House of Representatives, James Abiodun Faleke, the chairman of the tribunal Halima Mohammad threw out the petition for lack of merit.
She avvered in her judgement that since INEC declared the election inconclusive no one was elected and all votes cast belong to political parties and not individuals.
She ruled that as a result, Faleke cannot lay claim to being elected as Deputy Governor.
It would be recalled that Faleke was running as mate to late Prince Abubakar Audu before his sudden death and INEC declared the election inconclusive.
Bello was later picked to replace the late Audu because he was the runner up in the primary. But Faleke opposed that claiming he should be declared the Governor – elect. He also refused to run as mate to Belly.
