BREAKING NEWS: Oyo State workers suspend strike as govt agrees to pay 2 months salary, release promotion letters

Oyo State wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Monday night suspended the about two months old strike embarked upon by civil servants in the state.

New Nigerian gathered from sources close to the NLC that the strike was suspended after several hours of meeting between the union and the state government team which ended at about 11pm on Monday.

It was reliably learnt that during the prolonged meeting, Governor Abiola Ajimobi agreed to paying 2 of the 7months salaries owed the workers by the state government.

Confirming the suspension of the strike, Oyo NLC Vice Chairman, Mr Titilola Sodo said the payment of the 2 months salary is to commence as from today Tuesday.

Comrade Sodo declared that among the agreements reached before the suspension of the strike was the immediate release of promotion letters to concerned workers.
