The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Mr. Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of Wednesday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State.
APC scored a total votes cast of 319,483 while its closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled a total of 253,173.
The state election returning officer, Professor Kayode Soremekun declared the election result at the state headquarters of INEC in Benin City.
But the PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has rejected the election result, alleging that the election results were manipulated by INEC in favour of the ruling APC.
He disclosed that the result announced by INEC was contrary to the various results from the polling stations across the 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
Meanwhile, some PDP youths have protested the outcome of the election, claiming that the electoral body was biased against the PDP.
The protesting youths who vowed to continue to reject election results, were later dispersed by military personnel.
So far, the there is calm all over state, even as members of the APC have taken to the streets in wild  jubilation and celebrating their party’s electoral victory.
