The Chief of Army Staff (COAS),General Tukur Buratai has said the Nigeria Army is now using the same guerilla approach being used by the Boko Haram terrorist to combat them.

According to Gen Buratai, the Nigerian Army has added more capacity and ability with the introduction of motorbike battalion to move quickly to wherever the terrorists are before they would be able to cause any havoc.
“We are using the same guerrilla strategy adopted by the terrorists. We are giving them back their own strategy. We have motorbike battalion which has added more capacity as well as the ability to move quickly to wherever the terrorists are,” he said.
The COAS maintained that the professionalism displayed by the Nigeria troops in the troubled regions of the country as well as the full support of all Nigerians were part of the secrets that has helped curtail the continous assault of the dreaded terrorist group.
“It is the political commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari, the government, the leadership of the military who are very committed as well as the troops on the ground who are committed and professional coupled with the full support of all Nigerians,” he said.
While assuring Nigerians that the Army will not lag, General Buratai disclosed that a number of actions have been intensified to enable the military get to the insurgents before they cause any havoc or even run away from their hideouts.
The COAS then solicited for more support from Nigerians for the military to sustain the current level of success, saying, “we have intensified a number of actions that will help the troops get to the terrorists before they run out of their hideout or cause any havoc”.
“To totally wipe out Boko Haram, we require the support of everybody. They live among us and are everywhere and we require very good intelligence to fish them out. But the most important thing is to prevent them from having the capacity to launch attacks on innocent individuals and on our troops location.
“But in the long run, we require long term planning, long term surveillance, long term intelligence gathering so that the remnants can be picked from here and there apart from those who show up with their weapons which we are dealing with right now.”
Receiving the COAS, Governor Ajimobi lauded  the Nigerian Army for the efforts at upholding the unity of the country
Governor Ajimobi who was speaking throughhis Deputy, Otunba Moses Adeyemo, declared that the first priority of his government is security of lives and property, on which infrastructural development can thrive and the 2 Division in Ibadan has helped in no small measure.
“The purpose of governance is to maintain peace and security after which every other thing would follow in terms of infrastructural development. And our government is committed to sustaining the peace in the state,” he said.
