Bizarre! Village Head Kills Man Under His Care

The village Head of Madara in Kontagora area of Niger State, Alhaji Muhammad Sani has been remanded in prison custody as investigations continues over his alleged culpability in the gruesome murder of a middle aged man, Abbas Usman.
The Minna Chief Magistrate Court 6 presided over by Magistrate Amina Musa on Wednesday asked the prosecution to remand the accused person in prison when the case against the village Head was brought before the court.
Muhammad Sani, 55 years is alleged to have killed the victim, Abbas Usman who was under his care for undisclosed reasons.
Police First Information Report tendered at the court said Muhammad Sani had used the butt end of a hoe to hack down the victim in an unprovoked attack resulting in the death of the defenceless guest.
The accused had in December last year, while armed with a handle of a hoe, killed his victim by hitting the wooden end of a hoe on the victim’s head severally till the victim died on the spot.
The accused had afterwards dumped the remains of his victim in an old, abandoned well located close to his house as a cover up and to avoid arrest.
The prosecution Police Officer, Inspector Abdullahi Mu’azu said the offence contravenes section 221 of the penal code laws of the state and is punishable by death.
The accused had while pleading guilty to the charge, said it was devilish primed act even as he begged for forgiveness.
However, the trial Magistrate, Amina Musa frowned at the loss of societal norms, values and morals as cases of manslaughter become common occurrences in parts of the state.
Magistrate Amina Musa ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody of the Minna minimum security prison pending further investigations by the Police.
The case has been listed for further hearing on the 8th of March 2018, while the accused person is to remain in prison as demanded by the Police prosecution.
