Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF), a Non-Governmental Organization, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to take proactive measures towards bringing an end the incessant killings and destruction of property in Benue State and other parts of the country.
The forum noted that in the alternative, President Buhari should declare state of emergency with immediate effect in Zamfara and Benue States following incessant killings and destruction of property that has been on sometimes unabated.
Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem, president, Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, explained in a statement made available to newsmen Thursday said, “For the past two weeks, almost on a daily basis, villages and towns around Zamfara, Benue, Plateau and Kaduna State get raided by armed bandit of sort who mane and kill hundreds of our fellow citizens.
“The faceless bandits, has turned Zamfara, Benue, Plateau and Kaduna state into a theater of human abattoir, where human being are senseless and cowardly killed like animals with nonstop tactical operation module.the chiefs executives officer of the said states seems to have no idea of what to do and how best to do it on the continuous killing of the people under their care.
“In the last 30 days we have lost more than a 100 armless citizens to the said armed terrorists.
Our government at all levels cannot be everywhere, we call on all stakeholders to support the efforts of government either by encouraging our security operatives with useful information of strange group of persons within their communities.
Our fellow youths in Benue, Zamfara, Plateau, Kaduna States and other parts of the country should not allowed themselves to be used by desperate politician (conflict entrepreneurs) on the present security situation we found ourselves as a nation.
“We appealed to the entire citizenry of this great nation to join us as we declared, a seven day fasting and prayer for our leaders and the nation in general.
“The fasting and prayers will start on Friday 27th April and end on the 4th of May with special joint prayers session for both faith in National Youth council of Nigeria (NYCN) Secretariat(youth house) Abuja, on the 4th by 10AM prompt.”
