Before the emergence of the administration of Governoe Nasir el-Rufai in Kaduna State, tge consition of Government Girls Science Secondary School (GSSS) Soba was pathetic.
Vice Principal Administration, Samaila Yakubu expressed this when journalists visited, while on tour of projects executed by the present administration in the state.
“Honestly, I have no qualifying words to express how we feel about this intervention. As at the time we came, it was pathetic,” he said.
According to him, the ongoing work which covers hostels, classrooms and dinning Hall, is almost completed.
” We have 90 per cent work done in the hostel,” he said.
He however, appealed to the government to come up with other projects that are essential to the school.
“In the area of water, our boreholes breakdown.
We also appeal for the fixing if our generators.
We also want to appeal for fencing of the school through the back that collapsed.
“We need science equipment. We received some from central store and we are putting to use. You know, science is dynamic and things evolve ,” he appealed.
An SS 2 student, Peace Umar said they are now very proud of their school.
“We like everything about the school. The renovations and we don’t have complain, the food is good.
“Before we didn’t have enough hostels but it is okay now,” she revealed.
Another student, Orphan Timothy said that they are happy with the transformation going on in the school.
“We are happy about everything. Our toilets and bathrooms now okay.
“Before we were sitting on the floor but now we are okay,” she added.
