Because of the attention and followership the game is attracting, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Beach Soccer Association, Engineer Musa Nimrod has appealed to the Governor Nasir el-Rufai-led Kaduna State Government to give them the tennis clay courts that has been left unused for years at the Murtala Square, Kaduna to be converted to a beach soccer pitch.

He made the appeal while fielding questions from newsmen at the closing ceremony of the Kaduna Beach Soccer Championship, which ended in Kaduna on Sunday evening.

He said that the clay courts would be better to further develop beach soccer because there are already stands for spectators where they can sit and enjoy the beautiful game.

When asked to comment on the maiden Kaduna Beach Championship, he described it as a huge success, which has brought the game to the North for the first time.
On why Kada Stars could not lift the gold trophy, he said that Kogi Confluence team had more experience and came into the competition as national champions.

He praised the Kada Stars for giving a good account of themselves and finishing second.

“We are happy with the entire outcome of the competition and the turn out of spectators. It was a huge success. We are particularly excited that players from Kaduna teams; Kada Stars and Highlanders have been invited to national beach soccer camp, which is a plus for us,” he added.

The three-day championship ended on Sunday, with Kogi Confluence team emerging champions at the end of the round robin fixture.
