Bauchi State Christian Pilgrimage Welfare Board (CPWB) has said that it will conduct selection examination for medical personal team from the state willing to work during the 2018 pilgrimage to Jerusalem
The Executive Secretary of the board, Engr. Daniel Shawulu dropped this Tuesday at press briefing on the level of preparations for the 2018 Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem from Bauchi.
According to him, the selection examination for doctors and nurses that will constitute the medical team to Jerusalem this year is necessary to have merit personal and reduce bias in selection.
“The exams will be conducted through Computer-Based Test to the candidates who registered through our websites.
The selection was an improvement based on merit, rather than bias of selection process of the medical team,” he said
“We want to change the system, instead of somebody sitting down in his house and making a list of people to represent the medical team, we felt that merit should take the fore front in the selection process”.
“There is no God fatherism here and that is what we are advocating for everything to be based on merit. The doctors will pay a bit more than the nurses, the doctors will pay N7, 000 and nurses will pay N5, 000 for registration”, Shawulu said.
The Executive Secretary said that registration of intending pilgrims has stated with registration fee of N180, 000 exclusive of basic travelling allowances and administrative charges.
Shawulu however warned that this year pilgrimage is strictly spiritual inclined not for merchandise or pleasure, “This year’s pilgrimage is not for pleasure, tourism, merchandise or get way for you to leave the country”.
“Pilgrims should be there to perform spiritual activities such as prayers for the nation’s peace and stability, unity and prosperity and pray for yourself and the family”, he said.
Mr. Shawulu further explained that pilgrimage arrangements will be concluded before the end of this month of November for pilgrims to be uplifted to Jerusalem
