The Bauchi State Government has in its effort to improve power supply, create new businesses and commercial activities and job opportunities in the state distributed 500kva transformers to various communities.
Governor Mohammed Abubakar who flag-off the distribution exercise weekend the transformers will address the problem of integrated energy especially in rural electrification, street lighting, pumping water and provision of cold stores and irrigation.
He explained that his administration has recognized energy as a major requirement for the development of cottage industries and an answer to rural-urban drift, said each of the twenty local government in the state is allocated three transformers.
The governor lamented that economic activities in the state have suffered greatly as a result of epileptic power supply, a reason which informs government’s decision to initiate policies that will reverse the situation.
Governor Abubakar therefore urged the people, local government council chairmen and community leaders to take advantage of the transformers and guard them judiciously.
Earlier in a welcome address, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Nasirudden Muhammed said that the transformers were also to supply power to healthcare center, power security lig healthcare center, power security lights, pump water for irrigation farming, among others.
The commissioner said, “I urged the local government council and traditional leaders to ensure adequate security and sustainability of the equipment.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Bauchi, Alhaji Muhammed Hassan appreciated the exemplary leadership of Governor Ababukar for providing such equipment for improved power supply.
