By; Ayo Ojedokun, Lagos. Go Round FC defender, Chile Azu says their 1-0 win in Lagos on Monday was more as a result of determination on their parts than anything else. In their opening match of the season, a 2nd minute Chidi Nwachukwu goal gave the Omoku based side all three points at stake and Azu said it was a decision they made before embarking on the trip. He made this known to NNsports shortly after the game that“Before they left Omoku their minds set was that we could get three points in Lagos and believed it. “We also believe that this season we will get promotion,” Azu explained. The former Ikorodu United center back added that the money promised by the club president was an added advantage but the players were thinking beyond cash. According to him“The motivation is excess for us. We are happy in the camp of the team and we told ourselves that even a draw would not be enough for us. The boys are willing this season,” Azu enthused. With this win, the players get half a million naira promised them by the club president, Felix Obuah. The club president, Obuah had reiterated to the team, just before their departure to Lagos that the target once again is promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League. |
