Assets Declaration Is Mandatory, CCB Tells Public Servants

The State Director, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Kaduna State, Malam Yusuf Muhammad has reaffirmed that there is no excuse for any public officer on assets declaration, stressing that it remains mandatory.

He gave the warning during a monthly briefing with his staff in his office in Kaduna.

Malam Yusuf Muhammad said the law states that ” every public officer is to declare his or her assets and liabilities on assumption of office, at the end of the term of office, at interval of four years for public officers on continuous employment of government at the federal, at interval of four years for public officers on continuous employment of government at federal, state or local government ” and the responsibility to collect fill and return the form rests solely with the declarant.

He directed all the staff in the office to collect forms and declare their assets.

The State Director, therefore urged all public officers to be law abiding and consider assets declaration process as mandatory in their public service life in order to make Nigeria a corrupt free nation.

On the CCB/CCT against Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) the state director said that the action is constitutional.
