As Makarfi-Sherif reconcile: Its time to unite, bring PDP back into power in 2019 – SW PDP

South West Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday tasked leaders and members of the party to unite and bring PDP back into power in Nigeria come 2019.
The PDP SW Forum made the call in Ibadan at a peace meeting attended by members of the Senator Makarfi and Senator Alimodu Sheriff factions of the party tagged “Working together to regenerate our
party in line with the spirit of the founding fathers”
In the communique issued at the end of the meeting read to newsmen by Professor Taoheed Adedoja,the PDP forum
hinted that all the party leaders resolved to remain in PDP with a view to taking over power in Nigeria in 2019.
Professor Adedoja pointed out that the two factions at the meeting presided over by former Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun resolved to end its prolonged factional crises and restore a lasting peace into the party.
“All party leaders in attendance resolved to remain within the PDP irrespective of the various challenges facing the party at the National, Zonal and States levels, with the aim of capturing
the centre come 2019” he said.
Professor Adedoja declared that a committee was set up by the SW Forum during the parley to look into all the intra-party crises rocking the party towards bringing together all the aggrieved PDP members.
The spokesman noted that the SW PDP leaders praised the party leadership for zoning the party’s Chairmanship post “to the South West being the only zone that had never occupied the position in the past.”
He also added that SW PDP forum at the meeting expressed its total support for the on-going peace moves at the Federal level by the Sheriff and Makarfi groups, saying the time has come for all other zones in the country to resolve their internal grievances accordingly.
On the coming governorship election in Ondo state, Professor Adedoja said the forum urged PDP leaders in “Ondo State to close ranks and work together as a solid and united team to sustain the control of the State by the party at the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
