Army Seeks Zamfara Traditional Rulers Support To End Banditry

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto, Major General Stevenson Olabanji has solicited for the support of traditional rulers in Zamfara State.
Olabanji made the appeal in Gusau on Thursday when he paid a courtesy call to Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello at the Emir’s palace, noting that the traditional rulers being the custodians of the people are major stakeholders in the society .
“I am here just to familiarize myself with the emir and people of Gusau, until when we are familiar with the as royal fathers we will be able to seek their support on our activities”, he said.
Responding, the emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello thanked the GOC for the visit and described it as a timely and welcome development.
“As traditional rulers, we need to be contacted on security issues affecting our people, we are more closer to people, therefore we have greater roles to play in maintaining peace and stability”, he said.
The Emir said they are ever ready to partner with security agencies in the protection of lives and properties of the people
