The government of Osun State under the leadership of Governor Abdulrauf Aregbesola has has been blamed for the failure of the health and educational sector in Ifetedo land of the state.
Making this assertion at the Ifetedo Youth Summit held recently, the convener of a nongovernmental organization, Build Our World, Mr. Oluwafemi Oluwasogo urged government and students to brace up to their responsibilities by provision of basic amenities and facing their their studies.
He enjoined government to renovate and put in place dilapidated hospitals and schools and also ensure that libraries are provided to help students acquire skills.
Oluwasogo blamed government’s non-commitment for the lingering problems in the state and the Ifetedo community.
“The administration has done nothing to alleviate the problems of its citizens. Teachers and civil servants are owed salaries without hope of when it will be paid. How can teachers be motivated to put in their best.”
He further clarified that the decline of the educational standard of the state compared to other states within the country was and unacceptable disgrace.
The convener added that the cause is the economical problem in the country is forcing parents to engage their children in various menial and hard labour so as to get a source of income which now has damning consequence on the education of students.
Oluwasogo lamented the nonchalant attitude of the community at large towards female education, describing it as shameful. Stressing that parents should encourage female education.
Speaking also at the occasion, Barrister Niyi Owolade urged the youths of Ifetedo land to be actively involved in politics as lack of their involvement was responsible for of development in the area.
He pleaded to the youths to take their destinies in their hands and take to politics seriously as it is the means to achieving their demands, while applauding their non involvement in violence.
Hon. Marcus Adetoye Adedini on his part promised to help partake in the improvement of the town and empower youths especially the female group.
The National President Ifetedo Students Union, Comrade Antony Adewunmi Adedigba, Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Hon. Remi Kolajo, Hon. Timothy Fayemi and Hon. Akindele Famuyide were guests that graced the occasion.
