A group, Gan Allah Fulani̇ Development
Association Of Nigeria (GAFDAN), has urged the government and security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of the killings in some communities in Kajuru Local Government Area, early last week.
The group at a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, led by it’s National Secretary General, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said those who perpetrated the crimes against humanity must be brought to book.
According to them, “we call on the government and the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity are apprehended and brought to book. We commend the Governor of Kaduna State, the Security Agencies for visiting the areas to see for themselves the
level of destruction of human lives and properties perpetrated by these criminals.
“We wish to condole, the families of the victims of the recent crisis and call for calm. We call on our people not to take laws into their own hands and to allow government and the security agencies
deal with the issues. This association will continue to work with all stakeholders and peace loving people to ensure that the people of the area reconciled with one another.”
They recalled that, “in 2017, about 86
persons including women and children were gruesomely murdered by the Adara communities in the Kajuru LGA. Since then, there have been cases of isolated attacks and killings of innocent Fulanis in the LGA.
“We wish to note sadly that the communities and some people outside the LGA are not only not showing their sympathy and support to efforts by well-meaning Nigerians to resolve the crisis amicably, but are also shamelessly denying it. In all the crisis, we are yet to see anyone convicted and that has been the major motivating factor for the perpetrators of the attacks.
They observed that though the Kaduna state government has confirmed and security agencies have confirmed the
killing of 66 Fulani persons in the attacks but they are yet to confirm the actual numbers of people killed if is far more than that figure, adding, “the association is working and will soon come-up with the accurate figure of the people killed including the properties destroyed.”
