APC supporters throw Taraba into wild jubilation …Security beef up

All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters have thrown Jalingo, Taraba State capital and other towns into wild jubilation following the victory of Hajiya Aisha Alhassan at governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja which nullified the election of Governor Darius Ishaku of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.
The supporters took to streets in the metropolis and other towns chanting “Sai’ Mama” .However, our finding revealed that there is relative peace in the town but some residents who spoke to our reporter cautioned that such jubilations should be restricted to certain areas in order sustain the peace and order in the state.
They said all they want was peace adding that without peace no development would be achieved. One of the resident Mr. James Bulus said “in Taraba State religion and tribal sentiments is easily introduce into issues” and cautioned that the celebration should be done with caution.
“You see religion and tribal sentiment is easily introduce into issues in this state and therefore security agents should monitor the youths in order not to cause trouble” Mr. Bulus said.
Meanwhile security was beefed up in the town with both armed Army and Policemen positioned at strategic locations within the metropolis.
Our finding revealed that business activities un-interrupted in the town with commuters going about their activities un-hindered. Both private and commercial vehicles were plying the roads in the state capital.
The state Chairman of APC Alhaji Hassan Ardo said in a telephone interview with New Nigerian that the party’s victory at the tribunal was a victory for Democracy.
He said with the ruling of the various tribunals across the country, it showed that the judiciary is now up to the task of protecting the tenets of our democracy.
The State Chairman of PDP Mr. Victor Bala Kona could not be reached for comment.
