The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, ( PDP) in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Friday alerted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning an inconclusive gubernatorial election in Oyo State as it was done in Osun State in September last year.
Engineer Makinde raised the alarm in a release signed by his Campaign spokesman, Prince Dotun Oyelade made available to journalists in Ibadan.
According to Engineer Makinde, to achieve this, “some members of the NURTW, who have started harassing market women have been mobilised to cause mayhem in PDP strongholds which include areas in Ogbomoso, Ibadan, Ibarapa and Okeogun.”
Engineer Makinde added that already, ” selected card readers that will not function will be deployed to these areas to decimate the PDP votes as it was done in some southern states.”
He however assured the people of Oyo state that despite the alleged plans, their votes will count in the end and he will still win the election convincingly
While urging the people of Oyo state ” to remain vigilant and confident and to troop out to vote”, he tasked the security agencies and INEC to extend the frontiers of democracy by being unbiased umpires .
The PDP governorship candidate also advised the Muslim community across Oyo State ” to ignore campaign of calumny which some people are peddling around on the use of Hijab, saying he is a free mixer who doesn’t discriminate against people of diverse religions, tribal and political affinities as evidenced in over five years of propagating religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence with his annual Ramadan lectures and building of Mosque and sponsorship of people to Holy pilgrimage to Mecca and others.
