Barely few days to the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries, the National Working Committee (NWC) has suspended the Adamawa State executives of the party for allegations bordering on favoritism.
The NWC took the decision, Monday in Abuja to ensure fairness and justice in the forthcoming party primaries slated for Saturday 29th September 2018.
Former Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Mr. David Babachir Lawal who gave the hint at a critical stakeholders meeting held in Yola on Tuesday, maintained that the suspended Ibrahim Bilal led Exco Will have no role to play in this Saturday’s gubernatorial primaries.
Babachir, a member of the board of trustee explained that the statement credited to the suspended Adamawa party chairman that the party has endorsed the incumbent Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow as its sole candidate, when the primaries is yet to be conducted shows that they will favor the incumbent.
“The suspended state Exco led by Mr.Bilal Will have no role to play in this Saturday gubernatorial primaries rather the three man committee from Abuja plus the six loyalists of the three aspirants”, the former SGF stated.
According to him, the NWC resolved that the three aspirants should present two of their loyalists while the national secretariat will set three man committee to conduct the primaries.
It could be recalled that during the declaration of Governor Bindow on 18th September Bilal said the APC as a party in Adamawa is satisfied with the performance of the governor and therefore are solidly behind him.
According to him, the entire executives of the party from state, local governments and ward levels have decided to unanimously endorsed Bindow as their sole candidate for the gubernatorial seat.
Bilal dared the Abuja politicians and the National leadership of the party that whether direct or indirect primaries, Adamawa APC has chosen Bindow as their only choice.
