APC Congresses In Akwa Ibom Record Success

Peaceful atmosphere characterized the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress held across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state yesterday.

A visit to the APC Chapter office in Uyo the state capital revealed that the congress was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere as delegates and elected officials were seen in jubilation. 

Speaking with journalists, Mr. Etido Utuk who was elected the youth leader for Uyo chapter of the party thanked the delegates for giving him their votes. 

“Today Chapter Congress has been peaceful; I have just been elected for the second term to take care of the affairs of APC youth in Uyo. 

“We are going to work together to ensure that APC win elections in Uyo Local Government Area and the entire Akwa Ibom State come 2019,” Utuk said. 

The situation was the same at Uruan Local Government Area as INEC officials and returning officers were seen conducting chapter congress peacefully. 

Mr. Felix Akpan who was elected the chairman of the chapter described his election as a development that would bring peace and progress the local government area. 

According to Akpan, his election would ensure the success of All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming general election in 2019.

He said that all the 27 positions in the Chapter have been elected peaceful. 

Earlier the party stakeholders in a press conference in the Party Secretariat along Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo urged supporters to be peaceful. 

Sen. Ita Enang who is the leader of the party in the state that all interest have all harmonized and they are going to conduct peaceful congress. 

Enang who is the Senior Special Adviser to President Mohammed Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate) commended stakeholders of the party and security agencies in the state for a successful chapter congresses held in the state. 

He described the last week peace accord by the APC as solid, intact and successful, hence the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the state.

“I want to thank all of you for coming out. We did have 99.9 per cent success and agreement on the ward congress which was held last week on May 5. “Today, all the parties and all the interests have been harmonized with party interest paramount and they are going to conduct peaceful congresses at the local government level.

It would be recalled that the police command in the state had earlier assured of a maximum security in the state to ensure a hitch free poll with men and officers of the command deployed to all the local government areas to ensure set goal.
