The Northern Elders Forum Chairman, Professor Ango Abdullahi (Magajin Rafin Zazzau ) has described State Electoral Commissions as corruption in disguise.
He stated this at the 2nd annual public lecture organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Zaria Unit on the Role of Political Parties and the media on free and fair election which held at the PG School auditorium ABU Zaria.
Prof. Abdullahi said for politics to take shape in Nigeria States electoral commission must be scrapped.
According to him, it is the root of corruption in the political arena and it will not allow eligible Nigerians to contest any position they so wish to contest.
He also condemned the decision of political parties for allowing states to choose the option that suits them for direct or indirect primary elections in their respective states.
Ango said this decision will do damage to the polity as well as expose free corruption in determining the candidates
even if the person was not the right candidate.
The N E F chairman advised political parties to adopt one decision for the primary elections on all positions so that the democracy will be better and enjoyable.
He challenged politician’s in the country to stop imposing candidate on the electorate and to allow a free flows of the democracy in the country.
