Following the allegation that a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is trying to burn down the party’s state secretariat earlier on Wednesday, Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has said that Governor Abiola Ajimobi is spewing out the allegations out of fears that if he emerges governor, he would be going to jail.
He expressed this while reacting to the allegation on phone later on Wednesday.
“The governor is scared of me succeeding him because he is going to jail if I should become the governor,” the minister said, while challenging the governor to an open debate.
The Minister stressed that there was no plan by the Unity Forum or any other group in Oyo State to burn the APC state secretariat in Ibadan as alleged by the Oyo State Government.
Barrister pointed out that the the alarm was a ploy by the Oyo State Government “to prevent delegates from attending the Saturday’s congress slated for the party secretariat.”
The Minister emphasized that he had no resources to fund violence, stressed that the plan by the Oyo State ” cannot work as I will be there for the congress because I am going to succeed Ajimobi as the governor of the state.”
“I have no money to sponsor violence. I am not a criminal, I am civil. This cheap blackmail will not not stop me from succeeding Ajimobi as the Oyo State governor.
