All Stars Cup: Ex- Internationals Set For Semi-final Battle

The 3rd edition of the on-going All Stars Cup for ex- internationals and former league players is gradually coming to an end with the semi-final matches slated for Sunday December 9, at the play ground of Nigeria Ports Authority, Surulere, Lagos.
According to the fixtures released by the organisers, Pako All Stars will face St Mary’s All Stars in the first semi-final clash while Ojota/Ogudu will be up against Oregun All Stars in the second semi-final match.
In the quarter-final matches decided last weekend at the same venue, fans where treated to the best of football artistry as all the games ended in penalty shoot out.
Mushin All Stars had their dream of playing in the last four cut short by Pako All Stars who defeated them by 5-3 while Ogudu/ Ojota All Stars recorded a 4-2 penalty victory over De Reliables just as St Mary All Stars recorded a 5-3 victory over FFC All Stars with Oregun All Stars beating Okoko All Stars 5-4 in another penalty shoot out.
Meanwhile, coordinator of the championship, Sunny Ekpochi said that the presence of many ex-internationals and former league players such as chairman of the competition, Henry Nwosu ( MON),, former Golden Eaglets Captain, Segun Fatuga, ageless NEPA of Lagos skipper, Ahmed Tandor, former Bendel Insurance of Benin player, Mohammed Gafar and former Insurance and Flying Eagles player Franklin Howard, former junior international, Monday Odiaka, Friday Elahor, Friday Ekpo and Ganiyu Akani amongst others has  given the competition wide acceptability.
He commended the management of leading sports betting company, Premier Lotto, chairman of Surulere Local Government Area, Tajudeen Ajide and an ex- international and building material merchant, Wasiu Ajibola for their support.
” This tournament in its third edition is aimed at re- uniting old players and give them the opportunity to relax, recreate and assist one another and I’ m happy that many ex players are identifying with the tournament.
” Its also important that I. commend the management of Premier Lotto, Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Tajudeen Ajide and an ex- international, Wasiu Ajibola for their support”, he concluded.
