Akwa Ibom Police Nab Two Female Armed Robbers

Akwa Ibom Police Command said, it has arrested two suspected female armed robbers who specialize in robbing people in the state of phones, money, jewelry and other valuables.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Don Awunah who disclosed this to newsmen on Friday at the command’s headquarters in Ikot Akpan-Abia, Uyo named the suspects as Sandra Namso and Mmenyene Ernest.
CP Awunah said, Sandra and Mmenyene usually armed themselves with knives and other harmful objects to carry out their criminal act using motorcycle popularly called “Okada”
According to him, the suspects were arrested on April 1, 2017 by a team of operatives in Ikot Ekpene, shortly after robbing one Ikeh of N400,000.00 and handsets.
The police boss added that, Sandra and her cohort were arrested through one of their mobile phones which dropped from them unnoticed while hurrying out of the scene of the robbery.
One dagger and two mobile phones were recovered from the suspects as exhibited. Both of them who the CP said confessed to the crime, have been arraigned in court.
In another development, four suspects said to have involved in advanced fee fraud “419” have also been arrested by the police in the state.
Police commissioner, Mr. Don Awunah said they were arrested following a report on internet fraud lodged by the Regional Manager of Diamond Bank PLC, covering South South and South East region of the Bank.
The report, CP Awunah said had it that, the account number of a customer was hacked into and the sum of forty million, six hundred and seventy-two thousand naira (N40,672,000.00  was fraudulently withdrawn and transferred into various accounts.
He said, upon interrogation the suspects who owned up to the commission of the crime were accordingly charged to court and remanded in prison custody.
The four suspects, all males were, Godwin Edokpolo, Chubuike Amadi, Maxwell John and Jobenna Onyekwere.
The Commissioner who reiterated the commitment of the command to fight crime in the state, advised youth in the state to see themselves as vanguard in the development of the society by refusing to be used against law enforcement agents in the state.
