Aisha Dan Kano: Kannywood mourns the exit of a great villain actress

The death of the popular Kannywood actress Aisha Dan Kano Tuesday last week has shaken the Hausa film industry popularly called Kanywood.
Aisha Dan Kano died after a brief illness at her residence in Gammaja area of Kano States and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Popular Kannywood and Nollywood actor and singer, Sani Danja in a chat with Nigerian Newspapers described the death of Aisha Dan Kano as a great loss for Kannywood and the entire film industry in Nigeria. He condoled her family and the industry on her death.
“This is a big loss for us in the industry and the people of Kano state. May her soul rest in peace.”
Kannywood Director, Hassan Giggs in a telephone chat with New Nigerian Newspapers described Aisha Dan Kano as a very talented and versatile actress who contributed immensely to the success of the Hausa film industry.
The Director who sent in his tribute from USA, said that the industry will miss Aisha.  “Aisha always make people laugh and she relates well with everyone. We are going to miss her.”
Kannywood star, Ibrahim Maishinku also described Aisha Dan Kano’s death as tragic a loss that will take the industry very long time to recover.
“Aisha was a good friend of mine. She relate with everyone in the industry. May Allah grant her Aljannatul firdaus.”
Ibrahim Mandawari, a popular Kannywood Producer, Director and Actor said the death of Aisha Dan Kano is a very big loss to the Hausa film industry.  “I was the first person that first featured Aisha in a film called Balkisu Saar Mata. We shot the film in Lagos. That was more than ten years now”.
According to him, Aisha Dan Kano was an indegine of Sokoto state but she lived most of her life in Kano. “Her death has created a gap in the industry that will be very difficult to fill” he stressed.
Also speaking on the death of the actress, Kannywood actor, Abubakar Baballe Hayatu said that the whole industry is shocked by Aisha Dan Kano’s death.
“We are all going to miss her in Kannywood. She is a good friend. Her eldest daughter was supposed to get married two weeks back but because of her sickness the wedding was postponed and now she is gone.”
He prayed for Allah to bless what she left behind of children and relatives.
Aisha Dan Kano won the Best Villain Actor at the 2nd MTN Kannywood Award in 2015 and has featured in so many films including Gidan Haya, Jarumai, Jarida, Masu Zaman Kansu, Balkisu Saar mata, Zawarawa, Dakin Amarya, Zeenat, Teburin me shayi, Love, and many more others.
