AFAN Advises Farmers On Cooperative Societies

Farmers in the country have been advised to embrace cooperative societies to improve their farming activities.

Kaduna State Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Alhaji Nuhu Aminu gave the advise while inaugurating new executives of Danmagaji Zaria Martaba Farmers Cooperative Society on Saturday.

He said presently, government has focused it’s attention towards working with farmers societies particularly at the grassroots.

The chairman further explained that any group that wishes to benefit from government’s intervention should join farmers societies.

According to him, there are various policies aimed at proving the farmers productivity as far as modern agriculture was concerned.

In his remarks, the Divisional Cooperative Officer Zaria through his representative, Alhaji Maikudi Umar said cooperative societies are major stakeholders in many aspects of human development.

Umar noted that any community wishing to be part of the beneficiaries of government should form their cooperative society in their locality.

He said that now the government has resolved to work hand-in-hand with the real farmers through their respective cooperative societies.

Earlier in his welcome address, the new chairman Alhaji Hashimu Ibrahim Kashu highlighted some activities the cooperative has participated such as Zobo farming, sorghum among others.

He said the doors of the cooperative society is open to all those who wish to join and the cooperative was working towards achieving the mission of the cooperative.
