Adamawa: Scores Killed, Five Villages Burnt Down By Fulani Herdsmen

Scores of people were killed and about five villages were completely
burnt following community/herdsmen clashes in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The villages burnt,were Simba, Shure and other adjoining communities in
Hungare area of Song Local Government Council.
Reports from the area was that trouble started when herds of cattle
overran a pond of water, the only source of drinking water for the
community and attacked a woman fetching water.
According to the report, the woman who received machete cuts for
daring to complaining about the  animals, rushed back to her  community in pain, and the community in  turn mobilized to the scene of the incidence and
trouble started between the herders and the communities.
In the ensuing confrontation, about four herdsmen were allegedly killed
by members of the community and in a swift  reprisal,  the herders
razed Simba, Shure and other adjourning villages, killing an unspecified number of people.
The Adamawa State police have confirmed the attack through its PPRO,
Othman Abubakar.
At the time of filing this story, the PPRO could not give the exact causality figures, promising to get full details of the attack from the DPO in the area.
It would be recalled that a similar attack was carried out in the community
in 2003 where many lives  were lost.
