As Nigerians prepare to go to polls on Saturday March 9, for the governorship and House of Assembly elections, the Adamawa State chapter of North East Youth Buhari Support Group, has endorsed the candidature of Senator AbdulAziz Nyako of African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Director General of the group, Aliyu Usman Waziri who made this disclosure during a press briefing in Yola, maintained that, Nyako is their preferred candidate for the governorship elections.
According to him, they have decided not to support the re-election of Governor Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow under APC because he had failed to deliver.
“The governor has neglected the health and educational sectors which are important institutions, there is also insecurity in the state capital due to menace of jobless youths known as Shila boys”
“Adamawa is seriously indebted because of reckless borrowing by Bindow’s administration,” Waziri said.
The DG pointed out that though they worked for Buhari re-election under APC, they had resolved to vote and support Nyako as has proven his worth to his people.
He maintained that even President Muhammadu Buhari once told Nigerians to be free to make informed choice of candidates based on their performance score card.
” We as a group saw a good candidate in Nyako of ADC, he has proved his worth in the senate; as a youth he actively contributed in the passage of Not-too-young to run and the North East Development Commission bills.”
The group also noted that Nyako’s manifesto for Adamawa showed that he was committed to resuscitating popular empowerment programmes such as Local Apprenticeship Scheme (LAS), Farming Skills Acquisition Centres (FSAC) and Special Assistance (SA) programme.
