As the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Adamawa State prepares for Saturday’s governorship primaries, a gubernatorial aspirant of the party, Dr. Mahmoud Halilu Ahmed, popularly known as “Modi” has disclosed that by Friday, a consensus candidate between himself and Malam Nuhu Ribadu will emerge.
The consensus was to provide a formidable opposition for the incumbent, Governor Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow.
Modi who made the disclosure on Thursday while speaking to journalists maintained that Bindow has failed the people of Adamawa, hence the need to rescue the state from his grip.
He noted that during his campaign tour to the Southern zone, he found out that there was no presence of government at all.
” The most worrisome is the issue of ethnic crisis, and the non payment of workers salaries, imagine a worker working for 30 days without receiving salary, and the days becoming months without salaries”
“The nonchalant attitude of the government in the state is a clear sign to the people”, Modi stated.
He therefore, urged the electorate especially delegates of the party to vote for him during Saturday’s primaries to enjoy the dividends of democratic government.
The governorship hopeful advised delegates to put the interest of the state above personal interest, stressing that the level of neglect by government in the state informed the present economic imbalance.
Commenting on what to expect on Saturday, Modi who is President Buhari’s in-law said, a landslide in his favour.
However, he was quick to point out that, if he losses at the primaries, he will not support Bindow’s candidature for personal reasons.
