The temporary use of the Kaduna International Airport for Abuja bound passengers while the Abuja International Airport is undergoing major repairs has been described as a clueless decision from leaders who lack foresight.

Senator Grace Bent expressed this when she traveled via the airport enroute Abuja on Tuesday.

According to her, a lot more needs to be done to ensure a hitch-free arrangement for Abuja bound air travelers.

“So much needs to be done. I am not impressed  with security arrangement.  There is need for active security arrangement but there isn’t . There is a five kilometre distance between security forces and anything can happen within that gap,” she said.

She cited an example of a robbery incident recorded on Jere-Bwari  axis of the Kaduna-Abuja Highway a couple of days ago, describing it as a bad one.

“The arrangement is not convenient at all. It’s unfortunate when leaders do not have foresight, when they have misplaced priority. The society of engineers came to the Senate and did a presentation that they could still repair without closing the airport,” she stated.

Senator Bent stressed that  Abuja being the capital city of Nigeria, deserved at least  two runways at its airport.

She said that it was unfortunate that in the past when a contract was awarded for the construction of another runway at the airport, the cost was over inflated, which stalled its execution.
