By; Jacob Onjewu Dickson
The final of the first edition of Ife South Peace and Unity Cup Football Competition in Osun State between Aare Ward and Ikija 2 Ward ended abruptly  15 minutes to the end of the match on Wednesday at Ifetedo Middle School when a player of Ikija 2 Ward  kicked the ball angrily into the crowd and their fans encroached on the pitch.
Aare Ward were 1-0 up at the time of encroachment with the goal scored by Adebara Sunday in the 14th of the first half.
The organiser of the tournament later presented the trophy to Aare Ward following the rules of the tournament which eschew violent encroachment during a match.
Only eight of the eleven wards in Ife South took part in the tournament organised by Sodak Cconsult. The eight wards are; winners Aare, runners up Ikija 2, and third placed team Ayesan Ward who walked over Ikija 1Ward in the third place match. The remaining four teams are Aye Ward, Oke-Awona Ward, Kere Ward, and Mefoworade Ward. The tournament is organised by Sodak Consult.

Speaking after the presentation of the trophy, President of Sodak Consult, Vincent Akinbami said that it was sad the final ended the way it did, that the essence of the tournament was to foster peace and unity among all the wards in Ife South Local Government.

“The essence of the tournament is to bring about peace and unity among all the wards in Ife South, it is sad it ended this way, but the good thing is that we have started and it will always get better,” he said.

He added that talents abound in the local government and that this is the beginning of good things to happen in the future in terms of sports.

The coordinator of the tournament Mr. Faseru Abiodun said that the effort of the organiser should be commended as the tournament has generated a lot of interest among youths and the old ones in the local government. “It is a good initiative by Vincent Akinbami we pray that he gets all the support in the next edition”.
