951 Prisoners Set Free After Stakeholders Pay Fine

National Stakeholders on Prison Reform have paid various fines imposed on 951 prisoners by various courts as conditions for their freedom.  Consequently, the beneficiaries have been set free.
Officials of Nigeria Prison Service (NPS) disclosed this information recently at a Press briefing organized by Dr. Uju Agomo, the Executive Director of Prison Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA).
It was also stated by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NPS, Francis Enebore, on the occasion that massive agricultural revolution that is enabling prisoners to engage in full scale commercial farming is going on.
“At the moment,” Eneboro elaborated, “we have our own farm settlement in Kaduna where the prisoners have produced huge quantities of beans.”
The inmates also work in Bauchi and Edo prison farm settlements where they produce palm oil, the NPS PRO said.
